MISU Image Consultants

It was an exciting assignment considering it mostly had to be a guerrilla shoot and that too in the high security area of South Mumbai around Taj and Gateway of India. What made it more exciting were these two upcoming stylists who also wanted to model for the first ever shoot for their clothing range. MISU Image Consultants is basically a consortium of two young talented girls Mitali Sagar and Summiya Patni who gives Image/shoot-styling and wardrobe solutions for men and women of all ages. Here are some of the images that I clicked for them.

90-year-old Vita Bai was the domestic help and the official masseur of Meena Kumari. She still lives in a small concrete room in the backside of Meena Kumari's bungalow (now Cozi Home Building) in Pali Hill. It's difficult to communicate with her because of her age, but, her eyes tell the countless stories of happy and sad memories she must have had of the legendary actress. Shooting these pictures was an absolute delight. An experience I never had while shooting a lot of commercial stuff. And also, she loves fruit-cake.

Stealing Samir Kochhar
I was employed to do the making of a calendar by Muktangan International Foundation, an NGO that works for war widows. While everything was getting set up, I found Samir ready for his shot. I caught him, asked him to pose for me, quickly lit up and CLICK!!! The Picture was not used in the calendar but still remains one of my favourites. The lighting, Samir's expression and the shawl he has wrapped around, makes it a very serene and a calm composition.

Manasi Chatpalliwar
Shooting this budding lawyer-turned-budding model was an absolute delight. With no confidence and a sleepless night, she reached the studio. After relaxing for a bit, Kripi Sharma, the stylist and Renu Gupta, the make-up artist, commenced their mission. Manasi turned out to be an absolute stunner. Amazingly camera friendly, she lit the studio on fire. She knew how to stand, how to sit, how to pose; she was brilliant. I am sure she must have grown up practicing posing like a model in front of the mirrors. Here are some of the final pictures from the shoot.
